Quite a spectacular hillfire took place on Arran yesterday. I have put a couple of pics below, but the bigger ones are in my Isle of Arran Wildlife site and the link to the hill fire photos is here

These fires might look like they are damaging the land, but they are are doing quite the opposite. In a few weeks new, fresh, healthy vegitation will sprout up and any wildlife will gradually return.

Another site put together by myself. ArranWildlife.eu is aimed at everyone who wants to find out more, or keep track, of the wide variety of wildlife which can be found on the Isle of Arran, which is often described as being “Scotland in Minature”

It features a forum and a gallery. This allows users to discuss and see the wildlife, including plants, sea life, birds and mammals. The site will also, hopefully, be a good tool to keep track of new and endangered species on the Island.
